Marian's father was Richard Orrell and her mother was Margaret Ellen Taylor.  Her paternal grandparents were Richard Orrell and Sarah Gorse. She had two brothers and three sisters, named William, Norman, Dora, Margaret and Clarice.  She was the oldest of the six children.  She died at 6 months old in May 1910 in Pemberton.²
