Mary's father was John Millington and her mother was Ann Shaw.  Her paternal grandparents were John Millington and Mary Connah. She had seven brothers named John, William, Edward, Charles, George, Peter and James.  She was the third youngest of the eight children. She had a half-brother named Thomas.  She died at the age of 70 in 1884.
