George's father was John Millington and his mother was Ann Shaw.  His paternal grandparents were John Millington and Mary Connah. He had six brothers and a sister, named John, William, Edward, Charles, Peter, James and Mary.  He was the fourth youngest of the eight children. He had a half-brother named Thomas.  He died at the age of 34 in 1846.
