Mary's father was George Millington and her mother was Catherine Thornton.  Her paternal grandparents were William Millington and Elizabeth (Mary) Hewitt. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Wiliam, John, Hannah, Elizabeth, Ann and Jane.  She was the oldest of the seven known children.
