Elizabeth was born in March 1788 in Pentrobin and her baptism took place on March 22nd, 1788 in Hawarden. Elizabeth's father was George Millington and her mother was Catherine Thornton.  Her paternal grandparents were William Millington and Elizabeth (Mary) Hewitt. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Wiliam, John, Mary, Hannah, Ann and Jane.  She was the fourth oldest of the seven known children.
