Thomas was born in 1768 in Whitefield and his baptism took place on July 11th, 1768 at St. Mary (Radcliffe).1  Thomas' father was Robert Madther and his mother was Rachel Ogden. He had three brothers and three sisters, named John, James, Samuel, Sally, Ann and Rachel.  He was the third oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 44 in February 1812 in Whitefield.  He was buried on February 20th, 1812 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Prestwich).1

‌Thomas and Ann were married in a religious ceremony on September 13th, 1792 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Prestwich).1  They had four sons named Robert, James, Richard and Thomas.
