Robert was born about 1794 in Whitefield. Robert's father was Thomas Mather and his mother was Ann Ingham.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Madther and Rachel Ogden. He had three brothers named James, Richard and Thomas.  He was the oldest of the four children.  He died in February 1794 in Whitefield.  He was buried on February 26th, 1794 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Prestwich).1
