Robert Mather

Robert was born in December 1850 in Chorley and his baptism took place on December 22nd, 1850 at St. Laurence (Chorley).¹²

Robert's father was James Mather and his mother was Ann Riley. His paternal grandparents were Robert Mather and Mary Cunliffe. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Richard, Thomas, Susannah, Mary, Mary, Sarah and Jane. He was the second oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 77 in 1927 in Halliwell. His burial was in 1927 at St. Peter (Halliwell).

  In the 1890s, Robert and his brother Thomas both had daughters Ethel, Florence and Gertrude. How strange!
