In 1851, Ralph and wife Margaret Mather (29 & 28) were living at School Lane, Withnell, neighbours of his great grandmother Ann Mather (60) and uncle John Mather.

Henry and Ralph, both 15 in 1841 and bastard children, living with their assimed grandmother Ann (60) at Withnell. Ralph was baptised son of Mary, a single woman and Henry son of Peggy single woman. They grew up as "brothers" but were actually half-cousins.
Ralph was a relative of Henry Mather.
