Peter was born in 1800 in Whitefield and his baptism took place on October 26th, 1800 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Prestwich). Peter's father was James Taylor and his mother was Rachel Madther.  His maternal grandparents were Robert Madther and Rachel Ogden. He had four brothers and two sisters, named William, John, Thomas, William, Rachel and Sarah.  He was the third oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 37 in December 1837 in Whitefield.  He was buried on December 10th, 1837 at All Saints (Stand).1 1

‌Peter and Alice were married in a religious ceremony on October 12th, 1823 at St. Leonard (Middleton).3   They had two sons and two daughters, named Samuel, James, Mary and Ann.  There are possibly more children.
