Peter was born in 1734 in Little Hulton and his baptism took place on November 17th, 1734 at St. Mary (Deane).¹

  Text reads: "Petrus filius (latn for son) Johis Mather de Hult : paion"
  The "Hult" is therefore a place, not mother's name. Other records show "Hultonia media" and "Hultonia cedia" and "Hultonia superiori", so probably refering to John Mather of Little Hulton (Deane). This is further supported by "James son of Peter Mather of Little Hulton" being buried 1 Oct at Deane.
  
  Also below the February record is April 1734. This early period is the old Julian Canendar, where the year changes after 24 March, so the year is 1733, not 1734 as indexed

Peter's father was John Mather and his mother was <unknown>. He had seven brothers and three sisters, named Richard, Thomas, Samuel, Thomas, John, Harry, Noah, Catherine, Ann and Betty. He was the second oldest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 2 in May 1736 in Little Hulton. His burial was on May 15th, 1736 at St. Mary (Deane).²²
