Nancy was born on July 19th, 1820 and her baptism took place on January 18th, 1821 in Over Darwen.1  Nancy's father was William (Will) Mather and her mother was Betty Beswick.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Ellen Chambers. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, James, Abraham, William, Ann and Betty.  She was the youngest of the seven children.
