Martha was born on October 24th, 1808 in Little Bolton and his baptism took place on December 25th, 1808 in Dukes Alley Chapel (NC).1  Martha's father was James Mather and his mother was Ellen Mercer.  His paternal grandparents were William Greshon and Elizabeth Mather. He had six brothers named Stephen, James, James, Martha, Stephen and Jno.  He was the second youngest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 1 in December 1809 in Little Bolton.  He was buried on December 14th, 1809 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1
