James Mather

James was born on March 22nd, 1799 in Bolton and his baptism took place in 1700 in Dukes Alley Chapel (NC).¹

  Two James Mathers were using Dukes Alley at this time. Jesse(?), son of James and Ann Mather was also baptised here in May 1800.

James' father was James Mather and his mother was Ellen Mercer. His paternal grandparents were William Greshon and Elizabeth Mather. He had six brothers named Stephen, James, Martha, Stephen, Martha and Jno. He was the second oldest of the seven children. He died at 3 months old in June 1799 in Little Bolton. His burial was on June 10th, 1799 at St. Peter's (Bolton).²
