Marion was born on October 12th, 1885 in Prestwich and her baptism took place on September 19th, 1886 at Manchester Cathedral.1 2  Marion's father was James Mather and her mother was Mary Lambie.  Her paternal grandparents were John Mather and Mary Ann Wilson. She had five brothers and two sisters, named John, David, James, William, Alexander, Elizabeth and Harriet.
