Marinne, known as Mariame, was born in 1864 in Prestwich and her baptism took place on April 24th, 1864 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Prestwich).1 2  Mariame's father was Richard Mather and her mother was Sarah Simcock.  Her paternal grandparents were William Mather and Alice Ashton. She had two brothers and three sisters, named John, Richard, Sarah, Elizabeth and Elizabeth.  She was the second oldest of the six children.
