Elizabeth was born in 1868 in Prestwich and her baptism took place on June 21st, 1868 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Prestwich).1 2  Elizabeth's father was Richard Mather and her mother was Sarah Simcock.  Her paternal grandparents were William Mather and Alice Ashton. She had two brothers and three sisters, named John, Richard, Mariame, Sarah and Elizabeth.  She was the third youngest of the six children.  She died at the age of 4 in October 1872 in Bury.  She was buried on October 28th, 1872 in Prestwich.1
