Margaret was born in 1895 in Bolton.1  Margaret's father was Edward Mather and her mother was Catherine Jones.  Her paternal grandparents were William Mather and Margaret Doud. She had two brothers and a sister, named Thomas, Joseph and Elizabeth.  She was the second oldest of the four children.
