John Charles Mather

John was born in 1872 in Leeds.¹

- Aged 21 in 1889 at Farnworth when married
  Aged 20 in 1891, born Leeds (and Hephzibah 19)
  Aged 29 in 1901, born Leeds (born 1872)
  Aged 38 in 1911, born Leeds (born 1873)
  Aged 34 in 1914 when enlisted ("apparent" age)
  Aged 79 in 1950 when died at Farnworth.
  
  There is no John Charles Mather birth registered at Leeds. Although he was 21 when married, he was only 20 two years later so probably married under age. The closest birth registration match is at Derby:

  This in the son of Joseph & Elizabeth Mather of Derby, i.e. another

He died at the age of 78 in March 1950 in Farnworth.²

- John Charles Mather was the son of Miles Mather, both Colliers, born Leeds
  
  John married Haphzibah Leigh in 1889, but Ethel and Wallace's births were recorded with MMN = LEE (and only LEIGH after they moved to Durham).
  
  In 1891, John and Haphzibah (20 & 19) were living at 6 Booth Lane, Little Lever.
  
  In 1905, son John George Mather was born in the USA
  
  In 1911, John Charles Mather and Haphzibah (38 & 37) were at 16 Burnville Road, Sunderland with Wallace (18), Lily (10), Florence (9), Wlifred (8) and John George (6).
  
  10 Oct 1914, Born St Mary's, Leeds joined the Army (3yrs short service). L.N. Lancashire No.17063. He was recruited at Farnworth and discharged 9 June 1916, no longer fit for service. Address was 149 Bridgewater Street, Farnworth, Bolton.
