John Mather

John was born on December 29th, 1870 in Halliwell.¹

John's father was Wright Mather and his mother was Sarah Powell. His paternal grandparents were John Mather and Ann Coup. He had a brother and five sisters, named Walter, Eliza, Eliza, Mary, Emma and Sarah. He was the youngest of the seven children. He died at the age of 83 on March 15th, 1954 in Bolton. His burial was in March 1954 at St. Peter (Halliwell).²³

- John Mather of 31 Horace Street, Halliwell, son of Wright Mather (both Curtain Cleaners) married Sarah Ann Banks, the daughter of James Banks, a corporation labourer.
  
  In 1901, John and Sarah Ann (27 & 25) were living at 31 Horace Street.
  
  In 1911, John and Sarah were at 328 Halliwell Road, Bolton.
  
  In 1939, John was a curtain Cleaner at 309 Halliwell Road. Sarar A was with him (5y younger). He died at the same address in 1954, leaving his estate of £213 to Edna Rose, a married woman.
  
  John's wife Sarah died the following year. Both deaths were recorded at Bolton North.
