John Mather

John was born in March 1846 in Bolton.¹

John's father was Joshua Mather and his mother was Elizabeth Kay. His paternal grandparents were John Mather and Margaret (Peggy) Smith. He had a brother and four sisters, named Thomas, Margaret, Catherine, Margaret and Elizabeth. He was the youngest of the six children.
