Jane was born in March 1815 in Little Bolton and her baptism took place on March 26th, 1815 at St. Mary (Deane).1 2  Jane's father was John Mather and her mother was Ann Coup.  Her paternal grandparents were John Mather and Betty Edge. She had four brothers and two sisters, named James, John, Thomas, Wright, Betty and Mary.  She was the third oldest of the seven children.  She died at the age of 75 in August 1890 in Bolton.  She was buried on August 21st, 1890 at Christ Church, Walmsley.3
