It's not confirmed who Jane was, except she is the daughter of John Mather a weaver, and was born in Bolton about 1819. She probably had a close brother John who was a marriage witness.

It was thought Jane did not marry John Wallis, Brickmaker of Rumworth in 1853 (that Jane was born about 1819 in 1851). Nore did she marry Abraham Fitton in 1846 (she was a minor and her father was James). Neither did she marry Andrew Bentley in 1848 (also a daughter of James), nor Isaac Dodd in 1849 (a daughter of Thomas Alker). Not die she die in Bolton between 1841 and 1851.

In 1851, John and Jane were 31 & 32, living at Rumworth.
In 1861, John and Jane (41 & 42), living in Western Bolton. John was a Brick Maker. They had no children.
In 1871, John and Jane Willis (52 & 53) were at 43 High Street, East Bolton. John was a Retired Brick Maker.
25 Aug 1879, After her husband died in 1878, Jane "Willows" (63, daughter of John Mather a weaver) remarried James Clegg (62, widower and cowkeeper) at Bolton St Peter.
