James Mather

James was born in December 1792 in Tyldesley and his baptism took place on December 15th, 1792 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Leigh).¹

  James, son of Geoffery & Mary Mather of Tyldesley

James' father was Jeffery Mather and his mother was Mary Hampson. His paternal grandparents were John Mather and Ann Whittle. He had a brother and three sisters, named Thomas, Hannah, Elizabeth and Ann. He was the fourth oldest of the five children. He died at the age of 23 in May 1816 in Lancashire. His burial was on May 28th, 1816 in Tyldesley.²

General Notes
- James and Mary had two children at Tyldesley before James died in 1816, aged 23, so James must have married about 1808-12. The only marriage to a Mary is at Leigh..
  
  30 March 1812 James married Mary Kenyon, three months before Martha was born.
  
  In 1812 and 1814, James and Mary had two children; Matha and John baptised at Tyldesley Top-Chapel (non-conformist).
  
  In May 1816, James Mather of Tyldsley died, aged only 23 (non-conformist Top-Chapel).
