James Mather 
James was born in 1861 in Westhoughton.1 James' father was Luke Southern and his mother was Betty Mather. His maternal grandparents were Charles Pennington and Martha Mather. He had a brother and three sisters, named George, Ellen, Ruth and Mary. He was the third oldest of the five children.-
