Francis was born on November 30th, 1856 in Whitefield.1  Francis' father was John Mather and his mother was Sarah Ogden.  His paternal grandparents were John Mather and Mary Allen. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Samuel, Henry, Albert, Mary and Rachel.  He was the second oldest of the six children.  He died at 3 months old on March 19th, 1857.
