Emma was born in 1830 in Bolton and her christening took place on March 11th, 1832 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  Emma's father was Matthias (Mathew) Mather and her mother was Marcella Honeyford.  Her paternal grandparents were Matthias Mather and Mary Priestley. She had two brothers and a sister, named Richard, Matthias and Mary.  She was the youngest of the four children.  She died at the age of 3 in February 1833 in Bolton.  Her burial was on February 18th, 1833 at St. Peter's (Bolton).2
