Elizabeth was born in December 1870 in Salford and her baptism took place on December 25th, 1870 at St. Thomas (Pendleton).1 2  Elizabeth's father was George Mather and her mother was Jane Stewart.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry Mather and Mary Howarth. She had a brother and two sisters, named George, Mary and Louisa. She had an adopted brother named Mary.  She died at the age of 36 in 1906.
