Charles Mather

Charles was born in 1853 in Quarlton and his baptism took place on June 5th, 1853 at St. Anne (Turton).¹²

Charles' father was Andrew Waddicar and his mother was Sarah Mather. His maternal grandparents were Richard Mather and Mary Rostron. He had three brothers named Peter, George and Joshua. He was the oldest of the four children. He died at the age of 79 on November 22nd, 1932 in Quarlton.³

  Before they married, in 1871 Mari had a son Alfred that died an infant and then in 1875 Sarah Ann who survived.
  
  Charles Mather and Maria Hough married in 1876 and lived at Edgworth. They had a girl and boy die as infants (un-named) in 1881 and 1882 before Andrew in 1884 who also died an infant.
  
  4 Nov 1876 Charles Mather (23), a fire beater from quarlton, illegitimate, married Maria Hough (24), daughter of James Hough a block printer. (There is another marriage for Charles Mather and Mary Hough in 1873 at Christ Church, Bolton).
