Betty Mather

Betty was born in March 1772 in Little Hulton and her baptism took place there on March 29th, 1772.¹

Betty's father was Thomas Mather and her mother was Betty Flitcroft. She had two brothers and three sisters, named John, James, Katharine, Alice and Mary. She was the fourth oldest of the six children.

General Notes
- Betty is possibly the daughter of James and Esther Mather of Anglezarke b.1770, baptised at Rivington (as first son named James). However, Betty b.1772 daughter of Thomas and Betty from Little Hulton is just as likely (as second son named Thomas, and no Esther).
  
  8 Mar 1791, Betty may have married John Isherwood at Deane and moved to Quarlton. John (a weaver and pauper) and Betty had a son James baptised 16 April 1791 at Turton.
  
  1807 & 1810, daughters Alice and Susan were born at Tottington and baptised at St Ann's, Turton. This Betty (another Betty and John family of Bury) is buried at Hawkshaw (2 miles NW of Tottington).
