Peter was born in 1767 in Little Hulton and his baptism took place on May 10th, 1767 at St. Mary (Deane).1  Peter's father was Thomas Mather and his mother was Betty Flitcroft.  His paternal grandparents were John Mather and <unknown>. He had two brothers and four sisters, named John, James, Katharine, Betty, Alice and Mary.  He was the third oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 4 in February 1771 in Little Hulton.  He was buried on March 1st, 1771 at St. Mary (Deane).2
