Ann was born in 1831 in Little Hulton.1  Ann's father was Thomas Mather and her mother was Alice Bradshaw.  Her paternal grandparents were Ellis Mather and Ann Thornley. She had three brothers and a sister, named William, John, Ellis and Betty.  She was the second oldest of the five children.

‌Ann and Daniel were married.  The family line is yet to be completed.
