Ann's father was John Mather and her mother was Jane Holt.  Her paternal grandparents were Abraham Mather and Ales (Alice) Rothwell. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Samuel, James, Thomas, Margaret and Mary.  She was the oldest of the six children.
