Alice was born in November 1745 in Bolton and her baptism took place on November 10th, 1745 at St. Mary (Birkenhead).1  Alice's father was Ralph Mather and her mother was Elizabeth Bradley.  Her paternal grandparents were Ralph (Radi) Mather and Abigail Mather. She had two brothers and a sister, named James, William and Abigale.  She was the second youngest of the four children.
