Mary's father was John Manning and her mother was Betty (Elizabeth) Edwards.  Her maternal grandparents were Charles Edwards and Elizabeth Tomlinson. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, Charles, Ann and Elizabeth.  She was the oldest of the five children.  She died at the age of 8 in September 1826 in Farndon.  She was buried on September 25th, 1826 at St. Chad (Farndon).²
