William was born in 1807 in Bolton and his baptism took place on June 21st, 1807 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  William's father was John Lomax and his mother was Margaret Blackley. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Edward, Charles, Sarah and Mary.  He was the oldest of the five children.
