Sarah was born in 1831 in Breightmet.1  Sarah's father was John Lomax and her mother was Sarah Bracewell.  Her paternal grandparents were George Lomax and Catherine Crompton. She had a brother and a sister, named Richard and Mary.  She was the youngest of the three known children.
