Catherine was born in September 1874 in Little Bolton.1  Catherine's father was Edmund Lever and her mother was Mary Mather.  Her maternal grandparents were John Mather and Jane Welsby. She had a brother and a sister, named William and Sarah.  She was the youngest of the three children. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named John and Jane.
