Albert's father was John Kenney and his mother was Elizabeth Bennett. His maternal grandparents were Benjamin Bennett and Catherine Jones. He had three brothers and three sisters, named John, Ben, Edward, Elizabeth, Kate and Pheobe. He was the youngest of the seven children.
