Jack's father was John William Walsh and his mother was Clara Winterbottom.  His maternal grandparents were James Winterbottom and Elizabeth Ann Navin. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Frank, Clarence, Mary, Rosie and Lilian.  He was the third oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 67 in 1988.

‌Jack and Ada were married in a religious ceremony in 1946 in Chadderton.¹
