Edmund was born in 1733 in Mirebrook and his baptism took place on March 11th, 1733 at St. Leonard (Middleton).1  Edmund's father was Edmund Howarth and his mother was Ann Staveacre. He had four brothers and two sisters, named James, William, Robert, John, Alice and Mary.  He was the fourth oldest of the seven children.
