Mary was born in 1752 in Bickley and her baptism took place on October 11th, 1752 at St. Oswalds (Malpas).¹

Birth Notes

Mary's father was Thomas Hopley and her mother was Cicely (Cecilla) Johnson. Her maternal grandparents were Johannes Johnson and Cicely Rimmer. She had four brothers and a sister, named John, William, Thomas, Joseph and Elize. She was the oldest of the six children.
