William's parents, Thomas and Catherine, also named their youngest son Charles, baptised 11 Feb 1770.
In 1794, Charles's uncle Peter Hopley married Esther in Eccles so the family had ties to Manchester. Peter died in 1798, but Esther lived (died 1832), possibly with the assistance of Charles
In 1817, Charles Hopley of the Hound Dog Tavern, Manchester died, aged 44.
