Thomas was born in 1886 in Kearsley.1  Thomas' father was Thomas Hooton and his mother was Mary Ann Barnes.  His maternal grandparents were James Barnes and Mary Bolton. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named Thomas, James, Thomas, Harriet, Alice, Ann, Alice, Sarah, Jane and Bertha.  He was the fourth youngest of the eleven children.  He died in 1886 in Kearsley.1
