Mary Ann Barnes

Mary was born in 1848 in Bolton.¹

Mary's father was James Barnes and her mother was Mary Bolton. Her maternal grandparents were Thomas Bolton and Mary Whitaker. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, George, Maria, Mary and Harriet. She was the fifth oldest of the six children. She died at the age of 70 in July 1918 in Bolton.²

  In 1911, Mary Ann Barnes (64, widow) was living at 28 Bent Street, Farnworth, Bolton with daughters Alice, Sarah, Jane and Bertha (32, 29, 24 & 21). Of her 8 children, only one had died.
