George Barnes

George was born in July 1850 in Bolton.¹

George's father was James Barnes and his mother was Mary Bolton. His maternal grandparents were Thomas Bolton and Mary Whitaker. He had a brother and four sisters, named Thomas, Maria, Mary, Harriet and Mary. He was the youngest of the six children.

- Daughter Maria was born at Bolton in 1875. The only Bolton Birth record is for "Maria Barnes" has a mother SMETHURST.
  
  In 1878, George Barnes married Annie Hall at Bolton Emmanuel.
  
  In 1880 Alice (MMN = HALL) was born in Oldham, and in 1881 George and Annie were living in Oldham with Maria and Alice (5 & 1)
  
  George was a Clogger Journeyman, and married again in 1892 to Ellen Higgins.
