Mary was born in 1798 in Darcy Lever and her baptism took place on September 2nd, 1798 at St. Peter's (Bolton).¹

Birth Notes

Mary's father was James Hulme and her mother was Betty Mather. Her maternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Elizabeth (Betty) Thornley. She had a brother and four sisters, named James, Susannah, Elizabeth, Sarah and Rachel. She was the oldest of the six known children.
