William was born in September 1850 in Westhoughton and his baptism took place on September 15th, 1850 at St. Mary (Deane).1  William's father was <unknown> and his mother was Catherine Hodkinson.  His maternal grandparents were Adam Hodkinson and Mary Mather.  He died at the age of 42 in 1892.
