Martha's father was William Hilton and her mother was Elizabeth (Betty) Mather.  Her maternal grandparents were James Mather and Mary (Nancy) Stott. She had six sisters named Sarah, Mary, Esther, Elizabeth, Hannah and Charlotte.  She was the second youngest of the seven children.  She died at the age of 8 on September 19th, 1855 in Bolton.  She was buried on September 22nd, 1855 at St. Mary (Deane).^2 3
