Margaret was born in 1878 in Farnworth.1  Margaret's father was Thomas Hickson and her mother was Mary Mather.  Her maternal grandparents were James (Jacobi) Mather and Margaret Wood. She had two brothers and a sister, named James, William and Martha.  She was the third oldest of the four children.
