Mary's father was Abraham Grimshaw and her mother was Elizabeth Sandall. Her paternal grandparents were Josiah Grimshaw and Sarah Ibbitson. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Aaron, Abraham, Josiah, Elizabeth, Sarah, Mehetable, Rachel and Rebecca. She was the third oldest of the nine children. She died at the age of 59 on April 17th, 1787 in Yorkshire. Her burial was on April 18th, 1787.²
